Cultural Beliefs and Values

Ever since I was small I was taught that Family should always come first. No matter how much problems we may go through and how hard things can get, it is important to stick together and support each other.

Since I am from a huge clan, I am used to going to family gatherings mostly every weekend. We do it because we believe that our family must stay connected. It is the most important tradition to spend special events and holidays together like Birthdays, thanksgiving and most especially Christmas.

I grew up being such a family oriented person and if there is anything that is the most important thing in my life right now, it would be my family.

Another big thing in my culture is respect. We always need to respect other peoples' decisions and opinions. It is necessary to give importance to other peoples' way of thinking.

One of the most important Filipino tradition is to "mano" to our elders. It is a gesture used in Filipino culture and it is being done to show respect. It is called "bless" in English because it is a way of accepting their guidance or blessings.

Religious or Spiritual Beliefs

One of our biggest spiritual belief is to go to church every Sunday. Although my family has a busy schedule, we always try to make time and make it a priority to go to church once a week every Sundays.

Another way of connecting with God is by talking to Him. I believe that it is very important to make time thanking Him for every blessings through a prayer.

Politics and Citizenship

I may not yet be a Canadian citizen but living here in this country is a really big part of me.This is the environment I live in and I am going to be affected to whatever is happening in this place. I am a proud Canadian at heart.

The government of Canada offers really good programs that benefits everyone who lives in this place so we must become good people of Canada and follow the laws at all times.
